1. meh.: Marcus Greene showed us his studio today.

    paintedwindow:

It’s in Concord in what seems like the attic of this little shed. It has plastic on the floors, and is surrounded by his work and makeshift easels. He has a huge glass table that he uses as a pallet, covered with empty baby food jars to keep the paint good for longer.
I actually cried a little. Hahaha. How insane is that?

It wasn’t because I was so impressed with his artwork. His work is good, but it wasn’t that. It was because he talked about what it meant to him. It was because he had a story he wrote when he was a little kid about what he wanted to be when he grew up, pinned to the wall. It was because he talked about his dad, his wife, his son being his inspirations for a lot of his work. It was because he understands who he is so well, and he can paint it. His paintings are from his head, and they show his heart, and I want that.
I want to be able to paint the way I experience the world without it being a total cliche.

I want to be able to paint photograph the way I experience the world without it being a total cliche.
